Description
Protecting your employees when they work in high-risk situations should be the top priority for any employer. A self-retracting lifeline (SRL) can help keep your workers safe when they are working at heights. When your employees attach to the device, the lifeline can arrest a fall. A sudden pull engages the braking system, which protects the worker from injury.
This self-retracting lifeline provides extra features for your employees performing underground work. You can engage the winch mode for easy evacuation in the event of a fall. The retrieval block is covered in Velcro to help workers move the device safely and keep the handle steady.
Workers can use our SRL rescue device across a range of situations. Whether your employee is descending into a hole or working at heights, the fall protection rescue mechanism ensures they will be safer from potential harm when the brake engages.

Tips for Inspecting Your Self-Retracting Lifeline
Lifeline safety training and inspections are crucial to keeping your employees safe. Before each use, follow a few simple steps to make sure your SRL is working properly.
1. Check the Fall Indicator
If your SRL’s fall indicator is tripped, you should not use the device. You’ll know the fall indicator has been tripped when you see red at the SRL’s connection point.
2. Inspect the Snap Hook
Visually examine the snap hook to ensure it’s not deformed or bent. You should also press on the gate to confirm it can’t be forced open and make sure the mechanism opens and closes correctly.
3. Examine the Housing
Ensure all the fasteners are tightly in position. You’ll also want to confirm the serial number, part number, batch number and manufacture date on the label.
4. Inspect the Cable
Check the entire cable for burns, kinks, tears, frays and cuts. Make sure the cable isn’t tangled in the housing, or the SRL won’t arrest a fall.
5. Perform a Strike Test
Conducting a strike test will determine if your SRL’s braking mechanism is working properly. To perform the strike test, grip the handle and pull down on the cable swiftly, placing all the force above the fall indicator to avoid triggering it. The braking mechanism should engage right away. If it doesn’t, remove the SRL from service.
